چکیده
A new method for determining clear-sky shortwave aerosol direct radiative effects (ADRE) from the Clouds and Earth's Radiant Energy System is used to examine changes in ADRE since 2002 alongside optical depth (AOD) Moderate Resolution Spectroradiometer. At global scales, neither nor AOD show a significant trend. Over northern hemisphere (NH), increases by 0.18 ± 0.17 Wm?2 per decade (less reflection space) but shows no change over southern hemisphere. The increase NH primarily due emission reductions China, United States, Europe. COVID-19 shutdown noticeable impact on either or AOD, there substantial influence northeastern China March 2020. In contrast, February 2020 anomalies are within natural variability even though of industry was more pronounced than March. reason because exceptionally hot humid which compensated reduced emissions. After accounting meteorology normalizing incident solar flux, substantially, exceeding climatological mean 23%. correspond only period adjusted exceed 95% confidence interval 2 consecutive months. Distinct water-land differences observed not AOD. This likely surface albedo presence absorbing aerosols.

Shortwave Radiative Impacts from Aerosol Effects on Marine Shallow Cumuli
The net shortwave radiative impact of aerosol on simulations of two shallow marine cloud cases is investigated using a Monte Carlo radiative transfer model. For a shallow cumulus case, increased aerosol concentrations are associated not only with smaller droplet sizes but also reduced cloud fractions and cloud dimensions, a result of evaporation-induced mixing and a lack of precipitation. Three...
متن کاملNatural aerosol direct and indirect radiative effects
[1] Natural aerosol plays a significant role in the Earth’s system due to its ability to alter the radiative balance of the Earth. Here we use a global aerosol microphysics model together with a radiative transfer model to estimate radiative effects for five natural aerosol sources in the present-day atmosphere: dimethyl sulfide (DMS), sea-salt, volcanoes, monoterpenes, and wildfires. We calcul...

[1] Using one year (2000–2001) of merged Multiangle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR), Moderate Resolution Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MODIS) and Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) data sets from NASA’s Terra satellite, we estimate the top of atmosphere cloud-free direct radiative effect (DRE) of aerosols over global land areas. The global mean shortwave DRE is 5.1 ± 1.1 Wm 2 al...
متن کاملEstimation of diurnal shortwave dust aerosol radiative forcing during PRIDE
[1] Using measured and derived aerosol properties from the Puerto Rico Dust Experiment (PRIDE), a four-stream broadband radiative transfer model is used to calculate the downward shortwave irradiance (DSWI) at the surface and the shortwave irradiance at the top of atmosphere (TOA). The results of the calculated DSWI are compared against pyranometer measurements from the Surface Measurements For...
متن کاملAerosol Optical Properties and Direct Radiative Effects over Central China
Central China is important for aerosols and climate because it is among the worst regions for air pollution in China. However, it is understudied due to a lag in establishing an atmospheric monitoring network. So we did a comprehensive analysis using multiple techniques to improve the understanding of aerosol optical properties and their radiative effect in this region. The results showed that ...
